Moving at a slow and gentle pace, it’s a chance to slow down and take in the sights and sounds of the forest. Your guide will take you on a one-hour tour from Calvert Kielder’s woodland site into the wider forest and reservoir landscape, covering ground that simply wouldn’t be accessible on foot for many guests.
There’s no fixed itinerary — just the forest, the reservoir, and whatever the wildlife decides to do that day. Ospreys. Herons. Red squirrels if you’re lucky. The wind through the trees. The reservoir opening up through a gap in the canopy.
Feel the breeze against your face, the branches brushing past as the track narrows. It’s an immersive, sensory experience. And the science backs up what visitors instinctively feel. Known by some as ‘forest bathing’, time spent in woodland has been shown to lower stress and blood pressure, boost immune function and improve sleep quality.
