Throughout the year, we run fundraising appeals, events and challenges that help make sure children and adults with disabilities can keep doing things at Calvert Kielder that they can’t do anywhere else.
Whether you’d like to make a donation, take on a challenge, volunteer your time, or do something entirely your own, this is where to find out what’s on and how to get involved.
Check back regularly for our latest appeals, upcoming events and new opportunities to get involved.
Our Christmas appeal raised more than £16,000 to support life-changing accessible adventures. Every gift, however small, went directly to making more of those moments possible.
Every year, an extraordinary group of runners take on one of the world’s most iconic races in our name. If you’d like to run for Calvert Kielder, get in touch. We’d love to have you on the start line.
The local community came together at one of Northumberland’s most popular annual events to support our work.
Our events wouldn’t happen without the people who give their time to make them work.
Spare a few hours at an event. Cheer on our runners. Help out behind the scenes. Your time makes a genuine difference, both to us and to the people we support. Volunteering is also, for what it’s worth, a reliably good day out!
If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you. fundraising@calvert-kielder.com
You don’t have to wait for one of our organised events to make a difference. Some of our most memorable fundraising has come from people doing things entirely on their own terms.
Bake sales. Quiz nights. Running the Kielder Marathon. Celebrating a birthday by asking for donations instead of gifts. Swimming the length of Hadrian’s Wall. Whatever the idea, if it raises money and means something to you, we’re behind it.
We’ll support you with fundraising advice, promotional materials and anything else you need to make it a success. Just get in touch and tell us what you’re planning.
James is proving that disability doesn’t have to define what’s possible.
Ten years ago, James was diagnosed with CLIPPERS — a rare neurological condition that attacked the nerves in his brain, leaving him having to relearn how to eat, drink, speak and walk. He currently uses a wheelchair. He has never stopped believing that progress is possible.
Calvert Kielder has been part of that journey. With our accessible facilities, specialist equipment and the support of our team, James has done things he once thought were beyond him. He has climbed our 40-foot climbing wall. He can now walk up the steep incline to the ZipCoaster using a handrail — a climb that once required staff to push him in his wheelchair.
He’s also giving back. By volunteering as a photographer at the British Masters Weightlifting Championships, James has raised hundreds of pounds for Calvert Kielder. Not because he was asked to. Because this place has meant something to him, and he wanted to return the favour.
James’s father Terry puts it simply: ‘fundraising isn’t just about the money. It’s about what the money makes possible and what becomes possible when someone decides to believe it can be.’
