Respite Care Breaks at Calvert Kielder

Our respite care breaks for adults are award-winning for a reason.

It’s the combination of 30 years’ experience providing first-rate personal care, our fabulous team and all the many possibilities offered by our unique setting in Kielder Water & Forest Park, Northumberland.

A Personal Approach

A personalised care plan sits at the centre of every stay. Before you arrive, we work with you to understand exactly how you’d like your care delivered — what you need, what you’d prefer and what you’re looking forward to. Because this is a holiday like anybody else’s and you should be at the heart of it.

You can visit alone, as a couple, or with friends and family. Our dedicated care team is available 24 hours a day to provide empathetic, qualified support.

Take a Look Around

Fully accessible by design, each respite care room features wide doors, level entry en-suite facilities, movable furniture and a range of grab rails to support independent movement. We have a wide range of accessibility equipment (from profiling beds to ceiling tracked hoists), which can be used to customise your stay to the max.

Beyond your room, there’s lots of communal and social space, you’ll have access to our hydrotherapy pool, bar area and complimentary Wi-Fi — everything you need to feel properly at home.

Outdoor Activities

Physical wellbeing is just the start. Choice, freedom, relationships, fun. What do you want from your holiday in Kielder? Let us know and we’ll work around the clock to make it happen. From abseiling and zip-wires to sailing, canoeing and laser clay pigeon shooting — our experienced and specially trained activities team runs a full programme of outdoor adventures, all made accessible with our leading range of adaptive equipment.

Relaxation

Not every day needs to be an adventure. Kielder is one of England’s most peaceful corners — a place where slowing down feels entirely natural. Take part in arts and crafts, go birdwatching, explore the forest on a golf buggy ride.

Or spend an afternoon in the Snoozelum. Swim, play games, browse local attractions. Whatever rest looks like for you, you’ll find it here.

Meet the team

We’re not just ‘the staff’ at Calvert Kielder. We’re a close-knit unit of specially trained care professionals, outdoor activity coordinators, chefs, housekeepers, maintenance teams and more. All coming together to care for our guests one by one. That’s the magic of Calvert Kielder. Together we’re like a family. And we’re ready to welcome you in.
