Experienced Chef / Cook 

We are looking for a permanent full-time (part-time would be considered) experienced Chef / Cook to join our team. You must be familiar with a range of dietary requirements and menu planning.

Principally tasks are preparing, cooking and serving three healthy meals per day for our resident guests as well as the provision of a small take away service for self-catering guests.

We offer an above average salary (negotiable) minimum 28 days holiday with additional time off at Christmas and New year a Contributory Pension Scheme, Ongoing training and Life cover are amongst other benefits that we offer.

Care Staff

We are looking for permanent full-time and part-time candidates to join our care team in the provision of our short-term respite care programme. Carers at Calvert Kielder enjoy the opportunity to accompany guests on and take part in the many outdoor activities both land and water based that we provide, whilst also ensuring that the care needs of guests are met to the highest possible standards.

You don’t have to have formal qualifications in care as we will provide paid training for you. You do, however, have to be enthusiastic, caring and motivated.

All aspects of our guests’ personal care are met by the care team, ensuring that our guests enjoy a break from home and their home carers have a break from their caring responsibilities.

Administration / Guest Services

We are looking for a permanent full-time (part-time would be considered) experienced administrator to join our team with responsibility for delivery of our guest user experience.

Your role, amongst other things, is to ensure that our guests’ needs and expectations are satisfied. Your role helps to ensure that all aspects of the guest journey are connected, consistent and delivered to the highest standards at all times. As the First point of contact it is essential to create a good impression. The work of Guest Services may at times be demanding and sometimes very challenging, but we pride ourselves on a vision and determination to provide our guests with the best service possible.

Housekeeping Staff

We are looking for permanent full-time and part-time (Seasonal) candidates to join our site services team who are responsible for preparing our accommodation units for our guests.

Calvert Kielder has a main centre, which incorporates our respite care facility, with 24 bedrooms and our grounds contain 17 self-catering chalets including “George Clarke’s” SkyDen” Our staff are responsible for the cleaning and preparation of all of our accommodation and laundry.

Staff work on average 35 hours per week, but part-time hours are also available.

Activity Staff

We are looking for permanent full-time and part-time (Seasonal) candidates to join our activity team in the provision of our land and water-based activities.

We are looking for candidates who are confident and engaging and have experience of working in an outdoor activity setting.

Although activity qualifications are not essential, ideal candidates will have either:

  • A water sports background, ideally with dinghy instructor and canoe qualifications
  • A ropes background with climbing wall award / instructor or SPA / RCI or ERCA high ropes course instructor.

D1 driving entitlement would also be beneficial.

We work with people of all abilities, but we specialise in people with disabilities, so let us know if you have experience in this area.

Apprenticeships

In addition to our normal roles Calvert Kielder also offers apprenticeships in Care, Activities and Business Administration.

This is an opportunity for people of any age to join our organisation and train to become a fully qualified member of the staff team.

We offer a salary in excess of the apprentice rate, a minimum of 28 days holiday with additional time off at Christmas and New year a Contributory Pension Scheme, Ongoing Training such as NVQ’s in Care at Level 2, 3 and beyond, RYA & British Canoeing awards, High Ropes Training to name a few. Trustee

Calvert Kielder have a Trustee Board vacancy for someone who has experience and skills in sales and marketing relevant to the leisure, tourism, educational and disability sectors.

You will be joining a dedicated group of eight Trustees and be part of an integrated team working with the executive to deliver a sustainable future.

Volunteering Opportunities

At Calvert Kielder, we rely on and appreciate the help and support of our volunteers. Volunteering allows you to contribute directly to the amazing work that we do and help to make our guests’ stay as memorable as possible.

Volunteer Roles

There are many varied volunteer roles available including:

  • Socialising with our guests
  • Helping the activity team provide activities
  • Helping the care team support our guests
  • Maintenance and gardening work around site
  • Domestic or kitchen work
  • Customer service and administration
  • Supporting the fundraising team or fundraising in your local area

We offer short and long term volunteering roles, work, gap year and student placements and internships.
